Built Across Generations: Danny Rodrigues and Our Family Legacy

Key takeaways

  • Danny Rodrigues earned his place in our company through jobsite work, field experience, and project management.
  • During our unexpected leadership transition in 2014, Danny stepped forward with Bob Perrett’s support and earned his General Contractor’s license.
  • Our second-generation leadership carries forward our founders’ standards while adapting to clients’ needs and new ways of building.

The Leadership Behind the Build

Choosing a General Contractor means trusting the people who’ll make decisions, communicate changes, and stand behind the finished work. At our family-owned construction company, that responsibility has a name: Daniel J. “Danny” Rodrigues, our president and owner.

Danny’s path to leadership began with summer work and developed through years of project responsibility.

We’ve shared our founder’s story before. Here, we’re looking at the next generation: how Danny earned his place, helped us through an unexpected transition, and carries that experience into his work today.

Our Foundation: Standards Worth Carrying Forward

Our company began with Navy veterans Peter Rodrigues and Robert “Bob” Perrett in 1987. They built the business around quality work, integrity, and fair pricing. Peter’s guiding principle was simple: “If it’s not right, it’s wrong.”

That standard remains part of our company history and the expectations Danny carries forward. For our second-generation family business, continuity means applying those principles to the decisions in front of us.

Danny Earned His Place from the Ground Up

Danny spent summer breaks helping his father with jobsite cleanup, landscaping, and warehouse maintenance. After high school, he joined our team full-time as an assistant superintendent and later became a project manager.

Being Peter’s son didn’t mean skipping the groundwork. His father expected him to earn his place through hard work and experience. Those roles gave Danny a view of construction from both the jobsite and the project manager’s desk.

Taking Responsibility Through an Unexpected Transition

When Peter disappeared at sea in 2014, Danny was 26 and working as a project manager. With Bob’s support, he took on the responsibility of leading our company through the uncertainty that followed.

Clients needed reassurance that the standards they’d relied on would continue. Danny and our team worked to rebuild that confidence through open conversations about pricing, cost changes, delays, and other project challenges.

Danny also earned his General Contractor’s license during that transition. Taking responsibility meant doing the work to lead, while drawing on the people who’d helped build the company alongside his father.

What Second-Generation Leadership Means for Clients

For our clients, second-generation leadership connects long-standing company standards with an owner who oversees projects from conception through completion. That involvement matters when a plan needs clarification, conditions change, or a difficult decision needs an answer.

These are practical questions to ask any contractor:

  • Who owns the outcome?
  • Who responds when conditions change?
  • Who protects the project’s quality and the client relationship?

Our client testimonials show what that involvement looks like in practice. Jeff Jabot, a partner associated with Salt Life Food Shack, Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille, and Casa Reina, describes his experience this way:

“Their clear communication and transparent approach have fostered a strong sense of trust” (Jeff Jabot).

How Danny Leads Projects Today

As our president and owner, Danny oversees each client’s project from conception through completion.

Our leadership team and project partners help translate that oversight into day-to-day work:

  • Understanding client requirements
  • Coordinating across teams
  • Solving problems
  • Communicating changes
  • Holding work to a clear quality standard

Our work includes restaurant, retail, and other commercial projects, where design, operations, vendors, and field conditions need to fit together. Danny’s oversight works alongside the contributions of our employees, subcontractors, designers, and project partners.

Clients have described that approach in specific terms. In her published testimonial, restaurant owner Blanca Valencia highlights Danny’s attention to reviewing plans and suggesting improvements.

Jeff McCusker and Bob Fleckenstein of River Restaurant Group point to his problem-solving and coordination across teams.

Preserving the Standard While Letting the Company Evolve

The standards we inherited still guide us as construction methods and technology change.

Our approach to construction combines those values with new techniques and tools that support the work.

We’re also deliberate about growth. As we explained in our founder’s story, the goal is to choose projects thoughtfully and expand with our values in mind. For our family-owned construction company, carrying a legacy forward involves judgment about what comes next.

What Partners and Subcontractors Can Expect

Our leadership values also shape how we work with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. Across those relationships, we emphasize:

  • Clear expectations
  • Coordination
  • Responsiveness
  • Shared accountability

Our projects depend on the experience and effort of the wider team. Danny’s own path included field work and project management, and our approach to leadership recognizes the people who plan, coordinate, and carry out the work.
